The INTRODUCTION TO SIGNPAINTING WORKSHOP is specifically tailored for Beginners with little or no experience who are interested in exploring Hand Lettering using Traditional Signwriting Methods.
On Day 1 you will be introduced to Paints, Materials and Brush Types, and then will spend the day learning and practicing the Foundational Brush Stroke Techniques utilizing a Mahl Stick.
On Day 2 you'll learn how to draw a basic Block Letter Alphabet then put your brush skills to use by writing the alphabet with a Single Stroke technique.
After completing this workshop you will be familiar with the basic Signwriting Tools & Materials, as well as an have and understanding of Brush and Mahl Stick usage, the Foundational Brush Strokes, and how to draw and paint a Block Letter (Sans Serif) Alphabet.
This workshop will be held at John King's studio in the heart of the Sherman Oaks Shopping District.
All tools and materials will be provided however if you would prefer to bring and use your own brushes you are more than welcome to provided they are suitable for the class.

Lunch: You may bring your own lunch (studio has fridge and microwave) or there are numerous restaurants nearby including In-n-Out Burger, Luna Grill, Burger Lounge, Health Nut, Starbucks, and a great Sandwich/Donut Shop.
Access: Rear of shop via laneway.
Parking: Street parking. Gelsons Supermarket lot across the street. Some parking at rear of studio.
Cancellation Policy: Due to the limited number of workshop places cancellations/refunds are generally not accepted unless we are able to fill your spot, however you are welcome to send someone else in your place should you not be able to attend. We reserve the right to cancel Workshops if minimum class number of 4 students is not met providing as much notice as is practically possible to all attendees.
If you have purchased a workshop that gets cancelled for this reason you can choose have the purchase price refunded, or attend a future workshop of the same value. In the event of cancellation on our part we will issue refunds to all attendees, however we will not be liable for any additional costs including, but not limited to, transport, accommodation, loss of income.
